Light Out Detection that Works

When a signal lamp burns out, the relay triggers a secondary indication. This could be a more restrictive signal aspect, a warning light on the back of the signal, or an auxiliary light unit – ensuring crews are still alerted to potential issues.

These relays come in two coil configurations. One uses low-resistance coils wired in series for hot-filament checks. The other includes both low- and high-resistance windings, allowing for both hot and cold filament detection.

For double filament lamps, specific relays are available that either stay picked or drop out when the main filament fails – offering flexibility based on the application.
