  • Adaptable for a variety of turnout configurations

Customer Benefits

  • Proven reliability reduces operational risk
  • Lower lifecycle costs through simplified maintenance
  • Trusted performance in diverse climates and rail networks

Power-Operated Switch Machine

The Model 5E is an electric switch machine made to operate using power only – no manual levers or air systems. It moves and locks railroad track switches using an electric motor. It includes built-in parts like a lock rod, a point detector rod, and internal contacts to help control and monitor the switch position.

If there’s a power outage, the Model 5E can be cranked by hand to move the switch or make adjustments.

Control and safety relays are kept outside the main machine for easy access and maintenance.

Fast and Smooth Operation

  • Runs in about 3 seconds on 110 volts
  • Takes about 8–10 seconds on 24 volts
  • Uses dynamic snubbing to slow down gently and avoid hard stops
