Smarter Non-Vital Logic for Safer Systems

The iVPI® NVSP2 printed circuit board (PCB) handles non-vital functions independently from the vital system processing done by the VPS2 PCB. This separation ensures that non-vital system functions do not affect the safety-critical vital operations. The NVSP2 and VPS2 boards communicate only through an optional data exchange channel to share non-vital information.

The NVSP2 can be configured to support standalone non-vital applications or work alongside vital systems. It processes non-vital application logic, interfaces with discrete non-vital inputs and outputs, and supports diagnostic and event-recording features. Additionally, the NVSP2 can be programmed to manage HMI entrance-exit logic and log both vital and non-vital variables for comprehensive system monitoring.
