Fail-Safe Processing, Four Times Per Second
The iVPI® vital system functions are handled exclusively by the VPS2 Board, which completes thousands of fail-safe microprocessor operations four times every second. The VPS2 Board controls iVPI vital inputs and outputs, manages the timing of vital events and signaling rules, and communicates both vital and non-vital messages to other subsystems.
With its high processing capacity, the VPS2 supports complex train control applications such as Automatic Train Protection (ATP) to safely enforce train operations, Automatic Train Operation (ATO) to regulate speeds and station stops, and Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) to automate train routing. KB Signaling’s Numerically Integrated Safety Assurance Logic™ (NISAL) ensures the iVPI system operates in a fail-safe and reliable manner.
